Sixtine Dano

Bio

A graduate with a master's degree in Animation Cinema from the École des Gobelins, Sixtine Dano is a multifaceted artist: comics author, director, 2D animator, and illustrator. She first gained attention in 2018 with her graduation short film, Thermostat 6, an award-winning eco-fiction that brilliantly addresses inertia in the face of climate change. In 2025, she reached a new milestone with the publication of her first graphic novel at Glénat, Sibylline. This intimate and documented narrative, the fruit of several years of investigation, lifts the veil on the complex reality of student prostitution in Paris.

Alongside her artistic career and teaching (Estienne, Gobelins), Sixtine is a hands-on climate activist. Engaged with collectives such as Action Justice Climat and Artists for Climate, she uses her drawing to bear witness at trials of environmental defenders. Whether capturing the city on analog film or drawing the ecological emergency, she places storytelling at the heart of her fight. Passionate about hiking and climbing, she nourishes her work with a sensitive relationship to nature, making her art an essential bridge between intimate narratives and the great societal challenges of our century.

Residency project

Sixtine Dano's residency project at Rocabella continues her eco-fiction work begun with Thermostat 6. Within the exceptional setting of this estate overlooking the Mediterranean, she aims to develop a new narrative project exploring the fragility of coastlines in the face of the climate crisis. Using the villas and lush gardens as backdrops, she plans to structure a visual fable blending comics and experimental animation, where the architectural beauty of the Riviera dialogues with rising waters.

Taking advantage of the serenity of the location, Sixtine will work on the storyboard and graphic research for her next book, while capturing the atmosphere of the estate on analog film. She also plans to create a series of 'testimony drawings' centered on the biodiversity of the park, transforming the artist into a sentinel of the living world. For her, Rocabella is an ideal laboratory for imagining new narratives: how can we tell the story of protecting life without surrendering to fatalism? Between climbing sessions on the nearby cliffs, Sixtine Dano intends to transform this stay into a poetic plea for coastal resilience, combining the rigor of documentary with the power of animated fiction.
