Patrick Foch

Bio

Director and artistic director, Patrick Foch places the image at the service of borderless storytelling. His career is defined by a constant hybridization between creative audiovisual and prestige communication. Able to navigate between auteur documentary, international music videos—notably for Imagine Dragons with 'Nothing Left to Say'—and brand films for industry leaders such as Airbus and Thales, he refuses to confine himself to a single format.

His signature lies in the innovative use of cutting-edge technologies. Whether through complex 3D reconstructions, as in his documentary on Leonardo da Vinci, or immersive VR and AI experiences, Patrick Foch seeks to push the boundaries of the medium. Passionate about visual storytelling, he has directed numerous documentaries for France 3 and TV5 Monde, exploring subjects as varied as comics and sporting feats. For him, every project is an opportunity to experiment with new visual languages, fusing technical rigor and cinematic emotion to create unique sensory experiences that transcend the traditional frameworks of film.

Residency project

Within the Rocabella estate, Patrick Foch deploys an ambitious visual framework for the documentary project on representations of extraterrestrial women, led alongside Marc Gauchée. As director, his challenge is to transform a theoretical analysis into a visual and immersive experience. He uses the architecture and landscapes of the estate as an open-air film set, where reality meets spatial anomaly.

His residency work revolves around 'artistic punctuations': using artificial intelligence and advanced post-production techniques, he envisions a poetic 'invasion' of the estate. The silhouettes of Selenites and Venusians from cinema history come to haunt the gardens and villas of the Riviera, creating a striking visual dialogue between Mediterranean heritage and the science-fiction imaginary. These 'micro-portraits beyond the walls' aim to physically illustrate the male gaze and the evolution of gender stereotypes. At Rocabella, Patrick Foch does not simply film an investigation; he stages a reflection on otherness, using technology to make tangible the cinematic fantasies of the last century and lay the aesthetic foundations for a resolutely innovative documentary.
