Merly El Haddad

Bio

A Lebanese pianist with an outstanding artistic path, Merly El Haddad embodies a perfect synthesis of academic rigor and cultural sensitivity. She trained at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music and pursued her higher education in France, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Music, Performance, and Heritage from Paris-Saclay University, as well as the Diplôme National Supérieur Professionnel de Musicien at Pôle Aliénor.

She is also a laureate of the Paxmusica Academy. Merly performs regularly in solo recitals and chamber music concerts.

Her deep passion for music has led her to explore a wide-ranging repertoire, from Baroque to contemporary creation, with a particular focus on Lebanese composers. She dedicated a research thesis to Lebanese composers who settled in France during the Lebanese Civil War that began in 1975.

Alongside her career as a performer, Merly is a dedicated and passionate pedagogue. Holding the French State Teaching Diploma, she is fully committed to the transmission of her art.

Residency project

This residency at the Domaine de Rocabella is conceived as a privileged time for creation, research, and contemplation.

Nestled in a luminous environment open to the sea, the site offers ideal conditions to work in serenity on the preparation of a future recording program as well as upcoming concerts.

At the heart of this

residency, a process of composition and recording will be developed around the original music of a documentary, which will itself be filmed on site by resident filmmakers.

In parallel, the residency will lead to the creation of a “concert dessiné” (live drawing concert), structured around the theme of the Mediterranean. Inspired by the unique light of the place, its tranquility, and its open horizon, this stage project will combine music and drawing in a sensitive exploration of Mediterranean imaginaries.
