Juliette Moaty

Bio

A multidisciplinary artist, Juliette Moaty moves with ease between photography, video, and documentary filmmaking. Her gaze, shaped by her own experience as an actress—notably recognized in Attractions - Je t'aim3 - Trilogie de l'amour (2019)—possesses a rare sensitivity for capturing the truth of the moment. Juliette is not merely behind the camera; she understands from within the mechanisms of performance and the engagement of the body.

Her artistic practice, at the boundary between cultural journalism and pure creation, favors long-form engagement and deep listening. A specialist in narrative decryption, Juliette strives to understand how an intention becomes a work, making each project an investigation into the imaginary. For her, video and photography are tools of 'sensitive mediation,' capable of translating the most intimate emotions into universal narratives. Her approach, nourished by transatlantic collaborations, combines technical rigor with sophisticated visual poetry, where the body becomes the primary vehicle for an ecological and human narrative.

Residency project

For her residency at Rocabella, Juliette Moaty joins Léo de Broc and Maxime Raussin for the documentary project 'Les Gardiennes de la Mer' (Guardians of the Sea). This ambitious film, focused on female freediving, explores the intimate and powerful relationship between women and the liquid element. As photographer and co-director, the challenge for Juliette is to capture not the athletic performance, but the metaphysical dimension of this discipline.

Taking advantage of the serenity of the estate and the transparency of the Mediterranean, Juliette will use her expertise in lighting and her sense of visual texture to sculpt light in the depths. Her breathtaking underwater photographs, conceived as tableaux vivants, will convey the grace and resilience of these 'guardians.' Between the architectural majesty of the villas and the silent immensity of the deep, she stages an inner journey where mastery of breath becomes a metaphor for the preservation of our marine environment. This documentary is a total work celebrating the force of life, offering an enlightened reading of contemporary cultural dynamics through fluid editing and refined artistic direction.
