Jorge Care

Jorge Care is a Chilean composer, digital artist and improviser. A graduate of HEM Genève and winner of the 2025 Contrechamps Prize, he is in residence at the Fondation Singer-Polignac.

With Ligne de partage, Jorge Care looks for the zone where writing that comes from him and writing that comes from a system become difficult to tell apart. He starts from a question: what happens to the way he composes when a system fed by artificial intelligence can read a material, offer an interpretation of it and take part in the musical decision?

Starting from the texts of the poets and singer-songwriters in residence, a free language model connected to Max offers a reading of each poem, which the composer translates into musical proposals adapted to the instruments present. He accepts them, transforms them or sets them aside. Each poem gives rise to two pieces of writing, one without artificial mediation, the other fed by the system, and the gap between the two becomes the very subject of the research.

The work is built with the musicians, in rehearsal, and remains open to encounters with the other residents. The acoustics of the estate, facing the Mediterranean, and the light may extend this gesture if the collective work lends itself to it.
