Camille Romagnani

Bio

A Franco-Chinese artist born in 1992, Camille Romagnani explores the place of the human at the heart of a world in transformation. Trained in textile design at ENSCI–Les Ateliers, she built her practice on a tactile and sensory approach to the world, shaped by a nomadic journey between Beijing, Paris, and Taiwan. It was during an extended stay in Athens that she discovered ceramics, a medium that has become central to her current work. Her pieces, at the crossroads of cultures and ecosystems, offer a reflection on material as a vehicle for connection.

Now based in Paris, Camille develops a 'sensitive ecology' where the act of creation is envisioned as an act of care. For her, color, texture, and the gesture of shaping clay are all forms of attention paid to the living world. Her work, which privileges feeling and intuition, has been exhibited in France and abroad and is the subject of numerous publications. Through her sculptures and textile research, she invites a deep reconnection with our environments, transforming the art object into a silent but powerful witness to our capacity to care for our world.

Residency project

For her residency at Rocabella, Camille Romagnani proposes a project entitled 'Résonances Méditerranéennes' (Mediterranean Resonances), a visual exploration where ceramics and textiles dialogue with the Riviera ecosystem. Inspired by the architecture of the villas and the richness of the estate's gardens, she aims to create 'objects of attention' that integrate organically into the landscape. Her work will focus on capturing the textures of the coastline—the erosion of rocks, the folds of the pines, the movement of water—to translate them into clay.

The challenge of this stay is to use the residency as a laboratory for environmental care. Camille plans to collect natural elements and pigments from the Rocabella park to enrich her glazes and fibers, creating a body of work that emanates directly from the Mediterranean soil. Between contemplation and making, she questions how art can heal our relationship with a transforming coastal landscape. This project aims to produce a series of sculptural pieces conceived as talismans, offering residents and visitors an unprecedented sensory experience where the artistic gesture becomes an extension of the majestic and fragile nature of the estate.
