Anne-Laure Cros
Bio
A former senior reporter for TF1 and familiar face on the LCI news set, Anne-Laure Cros traded the urgency of news for the long time of artistic creation. This transition, far from being a break, is a logical evolution: after years of documenting reality with lucidity, she now uses material to explore contemporary issues with a new sensitivity. Described as an 'all-terrain artist,' she deploys a pluralistic visual practice encompassing performance, painting, photography, and more particularly ceramics and sculpture.
Her work is marked by deep commitment. From her years in journalism, she has retained a sharp eye for observation and a desire to bear witness, which she now transposes into organic and engaged works. Anne-Laure Cros does not merely create objects; she shapes visual narratives that question our relationship with the world and the living. By manipulating clay and pigments, she seeks to give form to the invisible, transforming her research on societal issues into precious or monumental sculptures, where the fragility of the material dialogues with the strength of the message.
Residency project
For her residency at Rocabella, Anne-Laure Cros immerses herself in the collective project 'Les Gardiennes de la Mer' (Guardians of the Sea) through the lens of ceramic sculpture. Inspired by the figure of the freediver and the majesty of the Mediterranean coastline, she aims to give a physical and eternal existence to these sentinels of the blue. Her work involves creating a series of totemic sculptures and ceramic masks that embody the protection and resilience of the seabed.
Taking advantage of the light and serenity of the estate, Anne-Laure will use clay to capture the movement of the body underwater: the folds of a wetsuit, the tension of a face in apnea, or the coral texture of the depths. Her creations, installed in the estate's gardens facing the sea, will act as watchtowers, recalling the vulnerability of the marine ecosystem. This project is an exploration of the 'skin' of the ocean, where enamel and clay meet to celebrate the women who inhabit the abyss. At Rocabella, Anne-Laure Cros transforms the elegance of the place into a sanctuary for these Guardians, blending the nobility of ceramics with the urgency of ecological preservation.
